Aleph — Terms of Service

These Terms govern the use of your Northlane Studio account from Aleph, the services Aleph uses through it (your profile and the family appearance shared between Northlane Studio apps), the update service and the website at https://northlanestudio.dev (together, the "Service"), all operated by Northlane Studio ("Northlane Studio", "we", "us").

The Software you install on your computer is covered by a separate document, the End User License Agreement. You can use Aleph without ever signing in; these Terms only start to matter when you do.

By signing in or using the Service you accept these Terms.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, whichever is higher. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm you can bind that company.

2. Your account

• Aleph uses your Northlane Studio account: the same email and password sign you in to every Northlane Studio app. If you are already signed in to Solaris on the same computer, Aleph can use that sign-in to open its own session, which you can close separately.
• You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, and we recommend turning on two-step verification.
• Tell us immediately at [email protected] if you think somebody else got in.
• One account is for one person. Do not share it.

3. What the Service does for Aleph

• shows your profile (name, username, picture) in the app;
• keeps the appearance you choose (theme and colours) the same across the Northlane Studio apps you use;
• delivers updates to the Software;
• receives the problem reports you choose to send.

Your files never go through the Service. Searching, indexing and opening files all happen on your computer.

4. Rules of use

Do not:

1. break into, probe, or overload the Service, or try to read other people's data;
2. resell, redistribute or automate access to the Service without our written permission;
3. impersonate anybody, or lie about who you are;
4. use the problem-report form to send spam or abuse.

If you break these rules we may suspend or close your account. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.

5. Availability

We will try to keep the Service up, but we do not promise any level of availability. It can go down for maintenance, for a provider's outage, or permanently.

Aleph keeps working without the Service. The index, search, the floating bar and opening your files all work offline. If the Service disappears you lose account features and updates, not the app. If we ever shut the Service down for good, we will give at least 90 days' notice by email to the address on your account.

6. Our content

The Aleph name, the Aleph and Northlane Studio logos, the website and the Software are ours. These Terms give you no right to use our trade marks, except to refer to the product truthfully.

7. Closing your account

You can sign Aleph out at any time from the app. You can close your Northlane Studio account from any Northlane Studio app or by writing to [email protected]; closing it closes it for every app. Account data is deleted within 30 days (backups can hold it for up to 30 more). Aleph itself keeps working without an account.

We can close or suspend your account if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if the Service shuts down under clause 5.

8. No warranty, and limits on liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, to the maximum extent the law allows.

To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of the Service is capped at MXN 1,590, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data.

Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. If a change materially reduces your rights we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, and if you do not accept it you may stop using the Service and close your account. Every version is dated and kept at https://northlanestudio.dev/legal/aleph.

10. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, and the courts of Mexico City, Mexico have jurisdiction — except that a consumer keeps the mandatory protection and the local courts of the country they live in.
